Description
Griffin Centre promotes positive change for vulnerable youth and adults with mental health challenges and/or developmental disabilities and their families. We are dedicated to delivering innovative services and developing creative partnerhsips that enhance lives and communities.


Flexible, community-based mental health services * assessment of strengths and needs * individual, family, group and short term counselling * crisis support * substance abuse treatment * sexual assault harm reduction treatment for offenders (limited capacity) * case management * school-based prevention and consultation * skill development * after school groups * summer work experience opportunities * preparation for independence * youth and family involved in service planning and decisions * consultation for parents, schools, agencies, communities * participates in Ministry of Children and Youth Services Toronto Region's coordinated services system

Mental Health Program -- assists youth and their families in dealing with conflict with friends or family, problems at school and in the community, discrimination, anger, violence, abuse, substance abuse

Dual Diagnosis Service (Mental Health/Development Delay) -- assists youth and their families in dealing with conflict with friends or family, problems at school and in the community, discrimination, anger, violence, abuse, substance abuse * day/school support services * respite/residential care * telephone support Home Base Housing Initiative -- supportive living arrangements * capacity 5 * 24 hour staff support * residents learn life skills including self care, household management, and budgeting skills * maximum stay 1 year * by referral from the hostel system or the Griffin Community Support Network -- see branch record * partnership with Gerstein Crisis Centre and Meta Centre Helping Youth Towards Solutions -- harm reduction approach * individual and group counselling * family education and support * outreach to secondary schools * day school support service, in collaboration with Toronto District School Board
