Description: COTA Health is a leading provider of community-based rehabilitation, mental health and support services. Five innovative women founded the organization in 1973 as Community Occupational Therapy Associates (COTA). Frustrated with the limited occupational therapy services available in hospitals, they felt strongly that these services could be provided in the community. In 1975, COTA Health became incorporated as a not-for-profit organization, received its charitable designation and appointed its first volunteer Board of Directors. Since then, COTA Health has grown significantly with the expansion of rehabilitation services to include physiotherapy, social work, speech language pathology and dietetics. Our mental health and community support services assists individuals living with mental health challenges, acquired brain injury, developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis. Our services include case management, supportive housing, day programs, court and justice related services and outreach for individuals who are homeless or living in shelters.

COTA Health currently serves clients in seven of the fourteen Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) across Ontario. Annually, we serve over 36,000 clients of all ages, including children, adults and seniors in their home, school or workplace. Our innovative, client-centred programs and services are delivered by a dedicated team of nearly 600 service providers and 200 volunteers. Drawing on its rich heritage, COTA Health continues to positively impact clients, the community and the sector.
