The Special Services At Home (SSAH) Program of the Ministry of Community and Social Services was introduced in 1982. The Toronto Special Services At Home Program Family Advisory Committee was born from the recognition of the need to give a voice to the users of the program.

The mandate of the Toronto Special Services At Home Program Family Advisory Committee as outlined in the Committee Terms of Reference is:

1) To advise Ministry staff on issues relating to the Special Services at Home Program in Toronto
2) To identify issues related to the operation and policies of the Special Services at Home Program and to make recommendations to the Toronto Regional Office
3) To facilitate communication between the users of the Special Services at Home Program and staff in the Toronto Regional Office
4) To share information and discuss issues related to the needs of individuals and their families accessing Special Services at Home funding

The Toronto Special Services at Home Family Advisory Committee consists of Toronto Regional staff (the Special Services at Home Program Manager and a Special Agreements Officer) and various family members who are involved in the care of a person currently receiving Special Services at Home funding.
